Catching Up after Covid-19
In a recent government report into the impacts of COVID-19 school closures on children and young people (CYP) by academics at UCL/Great Ormond St Hospital
27 studies concerning mental health identified considerable impacts across emotional, behavioural and restlessness/inattention problems;
18-60% of CYP scored above risk thresholds for distress, particularly anxiety and depressive symptoms.
As you know, a key concern at school is children’s inability to self-regulate and be ‘ready to learn’, their sensory, attachment & emotional needs often lead to negative behaviour taking them out of the classroom.
This in turn disrupts teaching and removes support staff from the classroom and leads to further problems.
We can address this with our music-based learning and sensory-aware teaching resources for whole classes: our School Membership.
Scientifically Proven
“Music can help to regulate mood, reduce anger or stress and enable these children to reduce the amount of cortisol that floods their brain therefore allowing them to feel calmer, safer and more able to deal with the task in hand.”
